  10.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To examine the context in which adolescents make their sexual
  11.        decisions and how these perceptions impact upon their behaviour, and in
  12.        particular those behaviours that put adolescents at risk of contracting
  13.        HIV. METHOD: Questionnaires were administered to 870 adolescents (aged
  14.        to 15 to 18) attending two Melbourne private schools. Students were
  15.        asked questions about their perceptions of their sexuality, sexual
  16.        self-efficacy, sexual self-esteem, relationships with others and their
  17.        sexual behaviour. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Using a cluster analysis, it
  18.        was found that the adolescents' perceptions of their sexuality, sexual
  19.        self efficacy and sexual self esteem formed clusters of sexual styles,
  20.        and these in turn influenced both the level and type of sexual
  21.        risk-taking and the type of relationships the adolescents had with
  22.        significant others. These sexual styles also varied by age and gender.
  23.        The components of these sexual styles and their implications for HIV
  24.        preventative behaviours are discussed.
